Westview on the James
I started going to Westview on James summer camp when in 2014, I immediately fell in love and decided that I had to work there. I have been a part of staff since 2018 when I started as a junior counselor. My first year as a counselor I volunteered for three weeks. I have been working there ever since.

Work Experience at WOTJ
2018
Junior Counselor
I was hired the summer of 2018 as a junior camp counselor. My duties included cleaning, preparing activities, putting together dinner/cookout boxes, work projects and assisting the senior counselors with taking care of the kids. During this year my work was entirely volunteer which gave me great experience while giving back to the community.
2019
Second Year JC
My second year working at Westview I had the title of second year junior counselor. My roles were very similar with the edition of acting as a mentor and leader for the first year counselors. This was a great experience that introduced me to the rewarding job of acting as a role model and leader.
2020-2021
Senior Support/Senior Counselor
One of the most disappointing moments in my life was when camp got cancelled the summer of 2020 due to Covid. I had planned to work all eight weeks, but that dream suddenly came to an end. The following year I was hired as a senior counselor after taking the year off. I had to quickly adapt to taking on this leadership role while navigating the new responsibilities. This job required me to lead groups and activities while being the main person in charge of the kids at all times. I learned a lot about myself in this role and believe it has changed my life for the better.
